Description
Landscape that depicts a serene rural scene. A quaint house with a thatched roof is situated beside a body of water, either a river or a canal. Two figures are in a rowboat, one sitting and the other standing and possibly poling or preparing to use an oar. On the far right, atop a bridge over the water, stand two silhouetted figures. The trees and brushwork in the scene convey a lively natural environment. The artist’s initials, “H.V.D.P.”, are in the top right corner.
