Antique print, untitled. A soldier leading a horse (and a dog) through a river ford. This old antique print originates from: ‘Dictionnaire des graveurs anciens et modernes depuis l’origine de la gravure, avec une notice des principales estampes qu’ils ont gravees : suivi du Catalogue des grauvres de Jacques Jordans et de Corneille Visscher, Paris, 1767, in-8 . re-edition, 1789. This work contains many original plates as well as some plates copied by Basan after others. This original plate was originally published c. 1630.. Artists and Engravers: Made by Pieter de Laer after own design. Pieter van Laer (1599-1642) was a Dutch Golden Age painter of genre scenes. In 1625 he travelled to Rome where he became a member of the Bentveughels art circle.
Condition: Very good, given age. Tiny stains in the top margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
