Antique print, untitled. Landscape with Hermes speaking with a shepherd watching several cows. A rowboat crosses a river towards a Grecian ruin. Artists and Engravers: Made by R. Earlom after C. Lorrain. Richard Earlom (1743-1822). Claude le Lorrain (1602-1682) was a French engraver from the Lorrain region (his real name is Gellee). Although initially confectioner, but later travelled to Italy to work in the workshop of Agostino Tassi in Rome.
Condition: Good, given age. Tear in right top of the print and small tears in the left, right and bottom margins, all closed with acid-free archival tape. From the collection of Count. N. A. Koucheleff-Besborodko (Lugt 1629). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
