Biography engraver: Pieter Dupont (1870-1911) was a Dutch engraver, painter, and draftsman active in Amsterdam. He became one of the most accomplished Dutch printmakers of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Dupont specialized in portrait engravings and figure studies characterized by a refined line and strong tonal modeling. His works often portrayed notable Dutch intellectuals, artists, and collectors.
