BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Published London, 1753, by Thomas Major at the ‘Tete Noire’, Chandos Street.

Biography engraver: Thomas Major (1720?1799) was a prominent British engraver and print publisher. He became engraver to the Prince of Wales and was influential in bringing Continental art to English collectors through his reproductive engravings.
Biography artist: Aert van der Neer (1603?1677) was a Dutch Golden Age painter renowned for his evocative moonlit river scenes and winter landscapes, often bathed in delicate light and atmosphere.
