Subject: Antique print, titled: ‘Christ crowned with Thorns’, Christ is seated with bound hands. Two men are driving the cornw of thorns into his head. A kneeling man in front of him, while three others watch the proceedings. A thorny branch on the ground.
Condition: Very good, given age. Part of left and right edge and right corner partially reinforced on rear. A few stains in print. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Etching/engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.
Size (in cm): The overall size is ca. 23.2 x 33.5 cm. The image size is ca. 20.2 x 28.5 cm.

Artists and Engravers: Made by Cornelis Cort after an anonymous artist. Cornelis Cort (1533-1578) was a Dutch draughtsman and engraver. He was known as Cornelio Flammingo while he was in Italy (from 1565 until his death). He started an art academy in Rome, where Carracci was among his students.
