Subject: Antique print, untitled.
Condition: Excellent, given age. Some damp staining in the right margin, not affecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Mezzotint on wove (velin) paper.

Description: Later (ca. 1750) impression of an originally 17th century mezzotint.

Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after W. Vaillandt. Wallerant Vaillant (1623-1677) was a painter of the Dutch Golden Age, and one of the early adopters of the mezzotint technique, which he probably helped develop.
