Subject: Plate : This plate shows a romantic scene with a man and woman probably depicting a husband and wife, where the wife passes a note to her lover while her husband observes sucpiciously.
Condition: Good. General age-related toning and light soiling. Remains of previous hand colouring. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Engraving / etching on a vellin type paper. Original hand colouring.

Artists and Engravers: This plate by Jean de Poilly after Ia. Courtin. Jean-Baptiste de Poilly (1669-1728) was a French engraver and print publisher; son of Nicolas de Poilly I. Jacques Francois Courtin (1672-1752) was a French painter, who got the prix de Rome en 1701.
