BACKGROUND INFORMATION

This attractive print was published ca. 1665 and served as a title page to a series, published by Dancker Danckerts.

Biography engraver: Dancker Danckerts (1634-1666), Dutch engraver and publisher from Amsterdam. Made etching after Berchem after 1655. Brother of Justus Danckerts.

Biography artist: Nicolaas Pietersz. Berchem, (Haarlem, 1622 – Amsterdam, 18 februari 1683) was a Dutch painter, draftsman, and etcher. He is best known for his pastoral Mediterranean landscapes.
