Subject: Antique print, titled: ‘Grey …’ – A view of Gray in France, while under siege of Duke Navailles. The city was held by a garrison of 3000 men under command of Colonel Massiette.
Condition: Very good, given age. Some stains in the right and lower margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Etching/engraving on wove paper.

Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Sebastien Le Clerc’ after ‘Louis de Chatillon’. Louis de Chatillon / Chastillon (1639-1734) was a French painter and engraver. He was a pupil of Pezey and Lebrun. Decorative border by: Sebastien Le Clerc (Metz 26 September 1637 – Paris 25 October 1714) was an etcher and engraver from Lorraine, who worked in Paris specializing in subtle reproductive engravings of paintings. He was made graveur du Roi and attached to the Cabinet du Roi.
