This print shows a view on a landscape with a peasant man and wife. The wife is carrying a package on her head. A dog is running behind them and there are cows and sheet in front. A donkey is carrying luggage.

Made by Dancker Danckerts after Nicolaes Pietersz. Berchem.

Medium: Etching / engraving on handlaid / verge paper. Watermark: Coat of arms with French lily.

Sheet size: 31.4 x 20.6 cm (12.36 x 8.11 inch). Image size: 30 x 19.8 cm. (11.81 x 7.8 inch).

Condition: good, given age. Slightly brownish upper marigin on reverse. Remains of papertape in upper corners. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Dancker Danckerts (1634-1666), Dutch engraver and publisher from Amsterdam. Made etching after Berchem after 1655. Brother of Justus Danckerts.

Biography artist: Nicolaas Pietersz. Berchem, (Haarlem, 1622 – Amsterdam, 18 februari 1683) was a Dutch painter, draftsman, and etcher. He is best known for his pastoral Mediterranean landscapes.
