Medium: Engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.

Condition: very good, given age. Light creasing, foxing and soiling. Fully attached to a decorative blue carrier attached to a hand haid blank carrier. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Printed in Paris by Jean van der Bruggen.

Reference: RKD record, Rijksmuseum object 1981.1453.

Biography engraver: Cornelis Vermeulen (1644-c.1708) was a Flemish engraver and printmaker active in Paris. Known for his portraits and reproductions of paintings and allegorical works, he worked with major publishers and depicted many notable figures of his time.

Biography artist: Raymond de Lafage (1656-1684) was a French artist known for his virtuoso pen drawings and mythological compositions. Despite his short life, he gained a reputation for imaginative scenes with dynamic, muscular figures and classical themes.
