Medium: Copper engraving with hand coloring on hand laid (verge) paper.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Biography artist: Frederik de Wit (1630-1706) was a Dutch cartographer and publisher known for his highly detailed and decorative maps. Based in Amsterdam, he produced atlases and wall maps that were widely collected in the 17th century.
