Signed J. Carbaat en dated 1912.

Made by ‘Jan Carbaat ‘ after own design. Jan Carbaat (Koog a/d Zaan 1866 – 1925 Rhenen). Carbaat belonged to the so-called Bremmerians, painters who were influenced by the ideas of H.P. Bremmer, Mrs. Kroller-Muller’s art advisor. He propagated pointillism, painting in small stripes or licks of paint in which the colors mixed in the eye of the viewer to the right color. For this reason, Carbate work is present in the collection of the Kroller-Muller museum in Otterlo.

Condition: Good, given age. Holes in corners from a pin. Crease in lower right corner. Some chips of paint missing in this corner an on the signature. On reverse in corners remains of glue. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
