Antique Master Print, titled: ‘Une Prairie arrosee par une Riviere’ – A landscape with cattle (cows, goats and sheep) near a barn. Several nude persons are bathing in a pond. A coach passes in the background. In the right side of the image a man and woman are milking a cow. Source unknown, to be determined. Designed by Marchais.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Pauquet and Fortier and finished by Duparc’ after ‘Marchais after Paulus Potter’. Marie Alexandre Duparc (1760- fl. 1825) was a French engraver and printmaker. Paulus Potter (1625-1654) This painter from Enkhuizen died in Amsterdam when he was not even 30 years old as one of the better known Dutch painters. Potter was one of the first artists ever to choose animals as his main subject. In this he was sublime. He was in many eyes the most heralded Dutch animal artist. His art is all the more remarkable considering that he died at the age of twenty-nine and thus his oeuvre is small in number.
