(text not on this print, being a proof impression) – This scarce antique print ‘The Sleeping Huntsman’ shows a man asleep against the wall of a tavern at centre, his dog standing at his feet, two dead birds at left, one of which hangs from a tree, a waitress coming out of the tavern with a jug and glass; after Gabriel Metsu.

Sheet size: 28,2 x 36,3 cm. Image size: 25,5 x 33,3 cm.

Made by Jean Pelletier after G. Metzu. Jean Pelletier (1736-1780) worked for the publisher Fouquet in amsterdam as an engraver. Gabriel Metsu (1629-1667) was a Dutch painter of history paintings, genre works and portraits.

Condition: Good, given age. A few light creases and crinkles. Trimmed at or inside plate mark. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
