Antique map, titled: ”A New and Original Hydrographical Survey of the North and St. George”s Channels […].” – A detailed sea chart of St. George”s Channel, the stretch of sea between England/Wales/Scotland and Ireland. Coastal towns are indicated, current directions and depth soundings. Insets show coast profiles, and an inset map shows the harbour of Lamlash on Arran Island. Source unknown, to be determined. These type of charts are scarse as they were actually used at sea for navigation.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Laurie & Whittle’ after ‘Captain Joseph Huddart’.
Condition: Very good, given age. Two sheets joined together. Original folds, as issued. Paper separation in some of the folds, backed with acid-free archival tape. A small, closed, tear in the lower right edge. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
