86. – This original antique print shows as statue of Artemis wearing a garment holding a piece of fruit in her left hand and holding up her right arm. The statue is a Roman copy of a Hellenistic figure, now in the Museo Capitolino in Rome. The etching shows the statue tHe right way round, without the modern crescent and with a different right hand, but otherwise in the same state of preservation as it is today. It was made after a drawing by Poelenburgh. Neither this drawing nor any intermediary drawings by De Bisschop have been traced. The statue is not included in the list of contents and locations, which means he did not know where it was. (ref: British Museum).
