Antique print, titled: ‘Gekwetst door het Fransche moordgeweer, ontfangt den Prins zijn dierbre Moeder: Nu voelt hij geene Smarten meer. Hij denkt, ook, was ik ten hoeder!’ – (Hurt by the French murder rifle, the Prince receives his dear Mother: Now he feels no more pain. He thinks, also you, I guarded.) These scene shows the wounded Prince after the battle of Waterloo in 1815. William II (Willem Frederik George Lodewijk, anglicized as William Frederick George Louis. 1792-1849) was King of the Netherlands, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, and Duke of Limburg. Source unknown, to be determined.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Willem Hendrik Hoogkamer’ after an anonymous artist. Willem Hendrik Hoogkamer (1790-1864) was a Dutch engraver and etcher, active in Utrecht.
Condition: Fair, given age. Vertical crease in middle. Light soiling and staining. Trimmed short, particularl.y at left and right. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
