Original antique print, titled: ‘Prospect des Tempels zu Jerusalem’. It shows a bird’s eye view of the temple in Jerusalem, as seen from the courtyard on the North side. This print originates from Heinrich Bunting’s ‘Itinerarium Sacrae Scripturae – Reise Buch uber die Ganze Heilige Schrift’ (Erfurt, Jungnicol, 1754). This work was originally published (from 1581)) with woodcut maps illustrating the most complete summary of biblical geography available at the time. In later editions the maps were updated to reflect modern knowledge. Rare.Artists and Engravers: The author of this work is Heinrich Bunting. Heinrich Bunting (1545-1606) was a German Protestant pastor and theologian. Itinerarium Sarcae Scripturae was his best known work, first published in 1581. Artist and engraver unknown, to be determined.

Condition: Very good, given age. The margins a little thumbed.
