Plate 4: ‘Godsdienstige oefening in ‘t vertrek van Castulo in ‘r Keyzer Paleys’ (Religious exercise in the chambers of Castulo in the Imperial Palace). This original engraving originates from ‘Tafereelen der eerste Christenen, bestaande in 92 konstprenten’ (Scenes of the first Christians, in 92 prints). This book was published in 1740 in Amsterdam by Gerrity de Groot and Jacobus Rijkhof. The prints by Luyken are accompanied by texts by P. Langendyk and C. Condition: Excellent, given age. A small spot of paper erosion in the middle of the image, three dark spots in the image. Original middle fold. Some general age-related toning and thumbing, please study scan carefully.
