Made by ‘Petri de Nobilibus / Pietro de’ Nobili’ after ‘Maarten van Heemskerck’. Gianpietro / Pietro de Nobili (active: 1568-1586) was an Italian print maker and dealer, active in Rome. He acquired the Lafreri stock, through Duchetti and from Paolo Graziani in 1585 (shortly together with Peter Sprangher, who he then bought out). (Source: Valeria Pagani in Print Quarterly, december 2008). Maarten van Heemskerck (1498-1574) was a Dutch painter from Haarlem.
Condition: Good, given age. A few stains, mostly visible on rear. Trimmed to image. Slight paper loss in some corners. Small wormhole at bottom left. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
