This attractive print was marked appo. Wagner Venezia C. P. E. S., which indicates that Joseph (Giuseppe) Wagner published the print in Venice.
Made by ‘Francis Vivares’ after ‘Antonio Visentini’. Francois / Francis Vivares (1709-1782) was a French landscape-engraver active in England. He moved to London at the age of 18. Most of his plates (160 total) were published by John Boydell. This plate published by a large Italian publishing house: Wagner in Venice. Antonio Visentini (1688-1782) was an Italian architectural designer, painter and engraver, known for his architectural fantasies and capricci, the author of treatises on perspective and a professor at the Venetian Academy.
Condition: Good, given age. Original fold lines as published. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
