Rare Antique Master Print-JOHANNES OECOLAMPADIUS-REFORMATION-Negges-c. 1760

Subject: Antique Master Print, titled: ”Joannes Oecolampadius. (…)” – This rare original antique print shows a portrait of Johannes Oecolampadius (1482 – 1531), a German Protestant reformer in the Reformed tradition from the Electoral Palatinate. He was the leader of the Protestant faction in the Baden Disputation of 1526, and he was one of the founders of Protestant theology, engaging in disputes with Erasmus, Zwingli, Luther and Martin Bucer.

Condition: Very good, given age. A few minor crinkles. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Medium: Mezzotint engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.
