Medium: Mezzotint engraving on hand laid (verge) paper.
Sheet size: 40 x 28.6 cm (15.75 x 11.26 inch). Image size: 40 x 25 cm. (15.75 x 9.84 inch).
Condition: good, given age. Surface damage along the edges of the paper, with several small holes. Paper edges reinforced with modern paper. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

Biography engraver: Johann Jacob Haid or Johann Jakob Haid (1704?1767) was a German engraver who worked in Augsburg. Haid came from a German family of artists and engravers and was known for large mezzotint portraits.
Biography artist: Jean-Baptiste Pillement (Lyon, 24 May 1728 – Lyon, 26 April 1808) was a French painter and designer, known for his exquisite and delicate landscapes, but whose importance lies primarily in the engravings done after his drawings, and their influence in spreading the Rococo style and particularly the taste for chinoiserie throughout Europe.
