The image is a detailed black and white print depicting a countryside scene with a group of travelers. A man sits astride a horse and appears to be in conversation with a woman who stands next to him, carrying a child on her back. Behind them, a figure is leading a donkey, on which another woman is riding sidesaddle. All the figures are wearing attire suggestive of rural life in what could be the 18th or 19th century.

The landscape features a path or road, with a fence running alongside it and a variety of trees, some of which are barren, possibly indicating the time of year to be late autumn or winter. The foreground includes what appears to be a log or fallen tree trunk, adding to the rustic setting.

In the background, the outline of a city or town can be seen, including buildings with visible architectural details, such as windows and a large dome, which suggests that the travelers may be heading to or coming from this urban area.

The sky is filled with clouds, suggesting an overcast day. Despite this, the scene is clear and provides a sense of the open air and spacious environment outside the city.

The technique used in the print is etching, which allows for fine details in both the figures and the landscape. This particular style of print was popular in the 18th and early 19th centuries for illustrating books or for producing prints that could be sold to the public.
