(Educational emblems.) Allegorical depiction of ‘instructiveness’ seated on a throne. The bird symbolizes the wisest, the boar the least wise. Behind her muses of painting and poetry.
Made by Vincent Laurensz. van der Vinne II after own design.
Medium: Etching on hand laid (verge) paper.

Biography engraver: Vincent Laurensz. van der Vinne Jr (1686-1742), son of Jan Vincentz. Van der Vinne (1663-1721) was part of the famous family of artists from Haarlem. He was a pupil of his father and Jan van Huchtenburg.
