Sheet size: 38,5 x 26,5 cm. Image size: 33,5 x 21,5 cm.

From a Dutch ed. of Captain Cook’s voyages: ‘Reize rondom de Waereld door James Cook […].’, 4to ed. published by Honcoop, Allart and van Cleef in Leyden, Amsterdam and The hague, from 1795. Three voyages, 1768-71, 1772-75 and 1776-79. From 1778 on printed editions of ‘ Captain Cook’s Travels’ appeared in English, Italian, French and Dutch.

Made by J.S. Klauber after an anonymous artist. Joseph Sebastian Klauber (1710-1768) was a German miniaturist and engraver of mostly religious subjects from Augsburg. He was a pupil of Antoine Birckhaert in Prague.

Condition: Fair, given age. Original folds as issued, with some soiling and staining. TearS along bottom folds, consolidated. Tear in left middle, consolidated. Light damp staining. Creasing at top right. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
