Anatomy print, number 40 (volume IV) , titled: Arteres de la Partie Superieure de la Cuisse (Arteries of the upper part of the thigh, leg). The corresponding sheet with legend/key included. This attractive original old antique print / plate originates from: ‘Traite complet de l’anatomie de l’homme, comprenant la medicine operatoire.’, by Jean Marc Bourgery, published in Paris by C.A. Delaunay, 1831-54. The detailed illustrations of anatomy and surgery in this work are considered unsurpassed! Each plate comes with the corresponding print index.Artists and Engravers: Author: Jean Baptiste Marc Bourgery (1797-1849). The artist who directed the massive program of prosection, and who was responsible for 512 of the spectacular illustrations, was Nicholas-Henri Jacob (1782-1871) a student of the neo-classical painter of the French Revolution, Jacques-Louis David.
Condition: Good, given age. The sheet discoloured and with scattered foxing/stains. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
