Condition: very good, given age. Some light foxing and vertical fold marks (as issued). Well-preserved colors and sharp engraving details. Wide margins. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Atlas van alle de zee-havens der Bataafsche Republiek, Amsterdam, J. Allart, 1802.

Biography engraver: Mattheus Sallieth (1749-1791) was a Czech-Dutch engraver and publisher known for his maritime and landscape engravings. He worked in Rotterdam and The Hague, where he became a well-respected printmaker specializing in finely detailed copper engravings.

Biography artist: Dirk de Jong (active 1781) was a Dutch draftsman, particularly noted for his contributions to maritime and topographical prints. His detailed drawings were used for engravings in atlases and travel books.
