Antique print, titled: ‘De Stad Bommel.’ – The city of Zaltbommel, seen from the river Waal. Attractive panoramic view of the city of Zaltbommel in the Netherlands, along the river Waal in the year 1732. “Hedendaagsche historie of Tegenwoordige staat der Vereenigde Nederlanden…, Vol XIII: Gelderland.”, published by I. Tirion in Amsterdam, c. 1740. Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘J.C. Philips’ after ‘A. De Haen’. Jan Caspar Philips (ca. 1700-after 1773) was a Dutch engraver and draughtsman. He was the tutor of Simon Fokke. Abraham II de Haen (1707-1748), Dutch landscape painter and engraver, was a student of Cornelis Pronck.
Condition: Very good, given age. Original folds, as issued. Attached to carrier sheet. Scattered small stains in the margins and right half of the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
