Size in cm: The overall size is ca. 12 x 20.5 cm. The image size is ca. 7.5 x 12 cm. Size in inch: The overall size is ca. 4.7 x 8.1 inch. The image size is ca. 3 x 4.7 inch.
Original antique print. It shows: a female figure, seated at a table while writing a letter with a quill. At her feet are three chubby baby figures (two playing with burins and engraving tools). This original print originates from a work by Basan: ‘Dictionnaire des graveurs anciens et modernes depuis l’origine de la gravure’, published in Paris in 1767, and again in 1789. This work contained numerous engravings, some of which were copies made by Basan, others original plates.. It was published by Basan in 1761.Artists and Engravers: Artist: Cochin fils. Engraver: Langlois le Jeune. Published by: Basan, in 1761. Pierre-Francois Basan (Paris 1723-1797) is a French engraver. He was a pupil of Etienne Fessard and Jean Daulle. He was principally occupied as a printseller, and published a ‘Dictionnaire des Graveurs’ in 1767.
Condition: Good, given age. Top and right edge foxed, a small stain in the bottom margin.General age-related light toning and/or staining from handling. Please study scan carefully
