Antique print, titled: ‘The Royal Palace of Windsor. – Le Palais Royal de Windsor.’ – View of the landscape and The Royal Palace of Windsor. Source unknown, to be determined.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Thomas Major’ after ‘H. Gravelot’. Thomas Major / also signing as Jorma or Jor (1720 – 1799) was an English engraver. At a young age he went to Paris to study. He engraved a number of plates after Berghem, Teniers, Wouvermans, Claude, and other masters.
Condition: Very good, given age. Original folding as issued. Small tears in fold in top margin, small tear in right horizontal middle fold print in landscape approx.. 5 cm., backed by contemporary paper and consolidated with acid free tape. Paper loss in right margin, remargined with contemporary paper and consolidated with archival tape. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
