‘Chantier de Vlissingen’

Crayon style lithograph on wove paper.
Sheet size: 29,3 x 22,3 cm. (11,5 x 8,8 inch). Image size: 20,4 x 15,5 cm. (8 x 6,1 inch).

From: “Voyage Pittoresque dans le Royaume des Pays-Bas”, by Mr. De Cloet, published in Bruxelles, 1825.

Made by ‘Jean Baptiste Madou’ after ‘Andreas Schelfhout’. Lithographer: Jean Baptiste Madou (1796-1877) originated from Brussels. He is considered to be one of the pioneers of lithography in Belgium. Printer: Ambroise Jobard (active around 1830) was a Belgian lithographer, active in Brussels and Amsterdam.

Condition: Good, given age. Light creasing and denting. Some remains of paper on rear from attachment. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
