Antique print, titled: ‘Gezigt op ‘s Hertogenbosch van de Sluis op de Zuid-Willemsvaart, 24 Maart.’ – This print shows a view at ‘s Hertogenbosch Sluice on the Zuid-Willemsvaart, March 24. From: ‘De Waterramp van 1855. Geschetst in 24 afbeeldingen & naar de natuur geteekend en geetst door leden der Maatschappij Arte et Amicitiae.’, published in 1855. This collection of etchings was published by this Amsterdam Art Society in support of the flooding disaster of 1855 in the Netherlands. We also carry the complete set. Dirk Jurriaan Sluyter (1811-1886) was a Dutch draughtsmanm etcher, engraver, lithographer and woodcutter from and antive in Amsterdam. He was a pupil of his father Dirk Sluyter and the Amsterdam Academy. He is the father of the artist Hendrik D. Sluyter Jzn. Everhardus Koster (1817-1892) was a student of B.J. van Hove in the Hague. He is well known for his beach, sea and river views. In style he was in between Romanticism and the Haagse School.
Condition: Good, given age. Some small stains in margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
