Heer Pieter Barend, Ryks-Vryheer van Wiedenbruck. – This rare print shows the northeast of the city wall in Utrecht, with the tower on the St. Servaashek, on the right the building of the Fundatie van Renswoude and on the right the detached houses of the Fundatie van Maria van Pallaes and two houses on the Nieuwegracht; on the left the city outer canal and in the background the bastion Manenburg. In the foreground are some old stones, including the name stone of Zonnenburg. A shepard with family and sheep sitting down for a picknick. Citizens walking in the streets. Boats on the canal.

This attractive print was dedicated to Prince William I, prince of the Netherlands, by his servant Johannes Weppelman.

Made by ‘F.C. Dietrich’ after ‘C. van Hardenberg’. Not much is known of F.C. Dietrich. He collaborated with C. Josi in the republication and augmentation of the Ploos van Amstel printdrawings. Cornelius van Hardenberg (1755-1843) was a Dutch painter and draughtsman.

Condition: Good, given age. Light soiling. Brownish. Some small holes in upper right corner. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
