Antique print, titled: ‘Teufel en duivels’ – (Devils – illustration to the Navigatio Sancti Brendani). A ship in distress on sea is accosted by devils from the sky. The ship contains Saint Brendan and his followers (monks). From the 1975 series of 10 etchings with calligraphy by Jepkes titled “de Reis van Sente Brandane”. Signed, numbered (70/100), dated and titled in pencil below the image.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Michael Jepkes’ after own design. Michael Jepkes (Amsterdam 1938-) is a Dutch painter, graphic artist and draughtsman. He studied with Joseph Verheyen, Henk Koekkoek and Maarten Krabbe, at the Instituut Hendriks (Haarlem) and the Academie (Tilburg). Besides painting and drawing, he works in drypoint, colour etching and mezzotint. While his work is mainly figurative, he manipulates reality. His work is usually made as part of a series.
