Etching / mezzoting engraving in brownish ink (with a wash applied) on hand laid (verge) paper. Watermark: Coat of Arms with letters GLC.
Sheet size: 26,6 x 40 cm. (10,5 x 15,7 inch). Image size: 16,7 x 27,2 cm. (6,6 x 10,7 inch).

Made by S. Mulinari after Niccolo dell’ Abate. Stefano Mulinari (ca. 1741 – ca. 1790), Italian engraver, pupil of Scacciati, engraved mostly etching/mezzotint combination after great Italian masters. Jean Baptist Le Prince (1734-1781) came from Metz and studied with Boucher in Paris. He stayed in St. Ptersburg between 1758 and 1763. After returning to France he etched many Russian scenes. Le Prince is also considered to be the inventor of the aquatint.

Condition: Good, given age. Light foxing and light creasing. Paper edges with a few tiny tears not effecting image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
