Rare antique print, titled: ‘St. Hieronymus’. It shows: a portrait of St. Hieronymus, kneeling and praying in the wilderness. Separately published master print, published ca. 1760. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters.Artists and Engravers: This print by Dietrich. Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich (Weimar 1712 – Dresden 1774) was a German artist and art administrator. He was very competent in imitating many earlier artists, but never developed a style of his own. His engravings in the style of Van Ostade and Rembrandt, both in spirit and skill, are seen as his best work.
Condition: Very good, given age. Small stains in the margins, remains of binding in the left margin. Remains of attachment to carrier to the rear of the sheet. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully, as it accurately reflects the condition of the print.
