Title: ‘S. Gislene – S. Gislein.’ This original devotional print shows: a portrait of Saint Ghislain, a Belgian anchorite and confessor from the Hainault region. He is depicted with a bear cub (his attribute) and two children devotedly kneeling at his feet (Ghislain was invoked against convulsions in children). At top right the Episcoparian coat of arms of Mansvete. Separately published master print. Our definition of master print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters. Published c. 1650 (estimate).Artists and Engravers: Engraved by E. v. Condition: Very good given age. Margins cropped. A hand-drawn red border around part of the image. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
