BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Issued by the Dutch Government via the National Printing Office (Algemeene Landsdrukkerij), 7 January 1937.

Biography engraver: A. van der Vossen was a Dutch graphic artist and illustrator known for bookplates and nationalistic decorative work.

Biography artist: P.C. Boutens (1870?1943) was a Dutch classicist poet known for his lofty, introspective style; his government-commissioned poem drew criticism for its obscurity.
