Print Description
Subject: Antique print, titled: ”Gedenkstuk voor de Nederlandsche Gereformeerde Gemeentens.” – This very rare original antique print was published for the Reformed Church in The Netherlands. It shows an Allegory with a central view of the “Nationaale Synode te Dordrecht gehouden in den Jaare 1618 en 1619”. Above, surrounded by angels, is a portrait of the famous reformer Johannes Calvijn / John Calvin. Other vignettes show the Protestant sacraments; baptism, marriage and the holy supper. This plate is a proof (proefdruk)!
Condition: Good, given age. Edges with a few small repaired tears. A few minor crinkles and creases. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
Medium: Engraving / etching. on hand laid (verge) paper.
