Biography engraver: Edme de Boulonois (1645-1682) was a Flemish engraver, active ca. 1682.
Biography artist: Hendrik Hondius / Hond, ‘the elder’ (1573-1650) was a Dutch designer and engraver from Duffel. He was a pupil of Jan Wierix and Jan Vredeman de Vries. He was a very active printmaker/publishers in the early part of the 17th. Century. He first worked abroad and then settled in The Hague. He mostly engraved portraits.
Hieronymus Wierix (1553-1619) was a Flemish engraver, draughtsman and publisher. He is known for his reproductive engravings after the work of well-known local and foreign artists including Albrecht D?rer. Together with other members of the Wierix family of engravers he played an important role in spreading appreciation for Netherlandish art abroad as well as in creating art that supported the Catholic cause in the Southern Netherlands.
