Antique print, titled: ”Sigebertus Havercampus […].” – Portrait of Sigebertus / Siwart Haverkamp (Leeuwarden 1684-Leiden 1742) a professor of History, Eloquence and Greek in Leiden (1721-1742). From: ‘Algemeene histori der zaaken in Asie, Afrike en Europe.’, by S. Havercamp, ‘s-Gravenhage, 1736-1739.Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘J. Houbraken’ after ‘Frans van Mieris’. Jacob Houbraken (Dordrecht 1698 – Amsterdam 1780). Houbraken was a Dutch artist, engraver and art collector. Jacob spend most his time designing and engraving portraits, such as the one offered here. Frans van Mieris (1635-1681) was a Dutch Golden Age portrait and genre painter. He was the leading member of his family of painters, also including his two sons and grandson.
Condition: Good, given age. Brown stain at bottom middle. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
