– A satirical lithograph from 1871 depicting two French peasants conversing in a rural setting, discussing the inefficacy of General Trochu’s plan during the Siege of Paris. One peasant, holding a spade, shakes hands with the other, who carries a walking stick. The rustic background suggests the rural displacement caused by the Franco-Prussian War.
