Plate g 20: Viceroy Pedro de la Gasca has oponent prisoners killed before leaving Peru back to Spain in 1550 to become bishop of Palencia. These oponents revolted because Gasca did not fulfill promises after they supported him in his quest against Gonzalo Pizzaro. Pedro de la Gasca (1485 � 1567) was a Spanish bishop, diplomat and the second (acting) viceroy of Peru, from April 10, 1547 to January 27, 1550. This attractive original old antique print originates from: ‘Naaukeurige Versameling der Gedenk-waardigste Zee en Land-reysen, na Oost en West-Indien, Mitsgaders andere Gewesten, ter eerster Ontdekking enn soo vervolgens van Verscheyde Volkeren, meerendels door Vorsten, of Maatschappyen Derwaarts gesonden, gedaan. Engraver: some plates or emblems in this work have the initials J.G. (Jan Goeree.) Jan Goeree (1670 � 1731) was a draughtsman, engraver, poet and author. mainly active in Amsterdam. The son of Willem Goeree and pupil of Gerard de Lairesse.

Condition: Excellent given age. General age related toning and light staining. Original folding from binding. Please study scans carefully.
