Antique print, titled: ‘Battle of Busaco, September 27, 1810.’ – The Battle of Bussaco during the Penninsular War, in which the Anglo-Portuguese army under Wellington defeated the French army. James Jenkins ‘The Martial Achievements of Great Britain’, published in London, 1822. The most famous English colour plate book recording the military endeavours of the Napoleonic wars, considered by Hardie to be a brilliant and worthy record of a brilliant period in our country’s history. Artists and Engravers: Made by ‘Thomas Sutherland’ after ‘William Heath’. Thomas Sutherland (ca. 1785- ca. 1820) was an English aquatint etcher. William Heath?(1794-1840) was a?British?artist. He was best known for his published engravings which included?caricatures, political cartoons, and commentary on contemporary life.

Condition: Excellent, given age. Stamp on reverse. Some faint soiling in the margin. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
