After a plate by P. Fouquet. Publ. by Gebr. Douwes. This is an optical print, also called ‘vue optique’ or ‘vue d’optique’, which were made to be viewed through a Zograscope, or other devices of convex lens and mirrors, all of which produced an optical illusion of depth.
Made by ‘Herman P. Schouten’ after ‘P. Fouquet’. Herman P. Schouten (Dutch; 1747-1822).
Condition: Good, given age. Trimmed near plate mark, with loss of part of cptions below. Brownish stripe in the air. Small hole been restored in the air. Light creasing. Stains in lower margin. In right margin small holes in paper. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully.
