BACKGROUND INFORMATION
From the series Theatrum pontificum, imperatorum, regum, ducum, principum etc., published Antwerp, 1651.
State: 3rd state (iii/iii).

Biography engraver: Pieter de Jode II (1606-1674) was a Flemish Baroque engraver, son of Pieter de Jode I. He worked closely with the workshop of Anthony van Dyck and became known for his detailed portrait engravings.
Biography artist: Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641) was a Flemish Baroque painter and the leading court portraitist in England. A pupil of Rubens, he was famous for his elegant and expressive portraits of European nobility.
