Original antique print, untitled. It shows: a landscape with a man and woman leading a small flock of livestock away from a ruined building. Separately published master print, signed in the plate below the image and dated 1775. Our definition of a Master Print is a seperately published print or series of prints, not being an illustrative print to a text. These can both be prints made by old masters (artists) or prints made by others (artists, engravers, etchers) after old masters.Artists and Engravers: By Johann Christian Klengel (Kesselsdorf 1751 – Dresden 1824). Klengel was the son of farmer and learned brewer Johann Gottfried Klengel. He was apprenticed to a bookbinder, but is trained as a draughtsman by Hutin and Mietzsch from 1764. Later he studies under Canaletto.
Condition: Excellent, given age. Small stains in the lower left margin, margins cropped close to the platemark. Attached to carrier. General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling. Please study scan carefully, as it accurately reflects the condition of the print.
